SAC Leadership Meet #1
On January 25, 2023, the IEEE Bangalore Section SAC hosted the first SAC Leadership Meet using the Cisco Webex platform in online mode. The meeting included all the Student Branch Counsellors and Chairs of various Student branches representing their institutes. Dr. Aloknath De, IEEE Bangalore Subsection Chair, and Dr. Parameshachari B. D. were the guests of honour speaking. MOC gave a heartfelt greeting and gave a brief introduction to the event. Dr. Aloknath De spoke to the group about leadership and the role of IEEE. Sir began by outlining the past three IEEE Bangalore Section meetings.

He shared his vision of growth and agendas for the year, the need to connect with all the principals of various student branches, and make IEEE more active in the institution. He is achieving this by hosting a ‘PRINCIPAL’S FORUM’ in February to discuss the implementation of the new NEP 2020, where 100 activity points are required, and how IEEE can play a role in achieving this. Sir also stressed on ‘STUDENT BRANCH + SOCIETY CHAPTERS’ formula to increase the diversity of IEEE within a student branch.

Sir also made it a point that the SB awards should emphasise the event’s quality and innovation more than just the number of participants and events. He plans to conduct every alternate monthly meeting with all branch counsellors and SB chairs.

Following Dr. Aloknath De, Dr. Parameshachari B D addressed the gathering. He began his speech by reminding everyone how important it is to submit annual reports by January 31, 2023, to qualify for IEEE funding. For submission of the Annual plan by email or a Google form, we must take the reports and keep the pdf copy produced after submitting them on VTOOLS. The officer reporting on VTOOLS needs to be updated by all student branches. He explained that students can join any of the 35 technical Societies in which they are interested. Any student branch can create a chapter of that Society with at least six students holding memberships in the IEEE Society who are interested and a faculty member serving as the advisor.
