2024 Chair’s Message
Higher Order Benefits
Welcome to IEEE Bangalore Section.
We often hear “ why should I join IEEE ? What are the benefits?” But before I start, I have a question, “ What do you want?”
Lets start with personal benefits. The technology is changing. So, we need to keep updated about latest developments. The subjects studied in college are not enough. If you are in some project in a job, you need to know what will come next. In fact, if we are a bit more knowledgeable, we can play our small role in deciding upcoming technologies. So, we have in our activities, technical talks, workshops, conferences, etc.
Next, professionally, we have many problems, such as projects, internships, jobs, higher studies, publications, going to conferences, etc. At institution level, we need to improve our rankings, take up R &D, etc. We can have many open discussions, to address and solve our problems.
Industrial scenario in the country is expected to improve greatly. We wish so. Due to global competition and other factors, we can play a more active role. Government is in an important player in the technological game. Professional need to engage with the government to help them to help us. To implement national policies also they badly need technical support.
IEEE Bangalore Section has grown significantly since inception, with many members and many programs, and lot of recognition. Why not we take up higher order objectives, than routine programs to show? The programs and activities are good. We only need to redefine and reorient the objectives. We observe that we are low in many rankings, such as educational institutions, publications, technological dependence, and independence, etc. Is it possible to foresee ourselves to be a global player in some areas? Through our technical activities and professional activities, I hope we can achieve.
I feel IEEE is a good platform to achieve higher order objectives. Personal benefits will accrue automatically.
Please come, involve, discuss, formulate, plan, and implement. So, what do you want to do?
