The IEEE Bangalore Section is happy to launch the Distinguished Speaker Program (DSP), offering incredible benefits and recognition to selected speakers! As a DSP member, you’ll be entitled to the following:

- Travel with Ease: Receive a generous travel allowance of up to Rs. 40,000 per year, distributed in convenient quarterly installments of Rs. 10,000, to support your speaking engagements across Karnataka.

What is the DSP?
The Distinguished Speaker Program is an initiative by the IEEE Bangalore Section to develop a pool of skilled technical speakers for various technical events and cohorts. It aligns with the broader IEEE Distinguished Lecturer Program (DLP).
Why DSP?
- Alignment with IEEE DLP: Mirrors the goals of the global IEEE DLP program.
- Speaker Pipeline: Creates a reliable source of qualified technical speakers.
- DLP Preparation: Equips speakers to apply for DLP positions at the global Society level.
- Contribution Opportunity: Provides a platform for IEEE Senior Members and Fellows to contribute to the technical community.
Who Can Apply?
To be eligible for the DSP, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Be an IEEE Senior Member or IEEE Fellow.
- Be a member of the IEEE Bangalore Section.
- Commit to traveling across Karnataka to deliver talks (approximately once a quarter).
How to Apply?
- Online Application: A web form will be created by the IEEE Bangalore Section to accept applications. – We need this to be created based on item 3.
- Self-Nomination: Applications are accepted through self-nomination.
- Application Submission: Applicants must submit an application including:
- An abstract of their proposed talk (250-300 words).
- A list of publications and patents in their area of expertise.
- Details of previous presentation/talk experience in other forums (online/offline).
- (For industry applicants) Contributions to technical innovation.
- Two recommendations from other technical leaders from their institution/company.
Review Committee
The Review Committee will consist of:
- Chair, IEEE Bangalore Section
- Vice Chair, Technical Activities – IEEE Bangalore Section
- Vice Chair, Professional Activities – IEEE Bangalore Section
- Technical Society Chairs (minimum of 2 per technical society cluster)
- WIE (Women in Engineering) and YP (Young Professionals) Chair
Benefits for Distinguished Speakers
Selected speakers in the IEEE Bangalore Section DSP will receive:
- Recognition: Announcement through social media channels and the IEEE Bangalore Section website.
- Travel Allowance: Up to Rs. 40,000 per year, distributed in quarterly installments of Rs. 10,000.
- DSP Plaque: To be presented during the IEEE SECTION AGM 2026.
- Networking: Opportunities to connect with other industry experts and emerging technical leaders.

Please note: The DSP covers only travel allowance. The inviting institution is responsible for providing accommodation.
