IEEE B-HTC is a premier annual cross disciplinary conference that brings together technologists, engineers, scientists and investors as well as representatives from NGOs, government, academia, and the industry to address United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals. This year, conference aimed at promoting research and development on “Sustainable Development Goal 3: Good health and well-being” to ensure healthy life and promote well-being at all ages. Along with IEEE Bangalore Section and IEEE Mysore Subsection, this conference was coorganized by JSS Academy of Higher Education and Research, JSS Science and Technology University, Mysuru. IEEE B-HTC 2023 was inaugurated by the chief guest, eminent cardiologist, Dr M N Ravi, Clinical Director, Narayana Multispecialty Hospitals, Mysuru. Dr H R Mahadevaswamy (Joint Director, TED, JSSMVP, Mysuru) was the guest of honour. Event was presided by Honourable Vice Chancellor of JSS AHER Dr Surinder Singh, in the presence of Dr A N Santosh Kumar (Vice Chancellor, JSS STU, Mysuru), Dr B Manjunatha (Registrar, JSSAHER, Mysuru), Dr H Basavanagowdappa (Principal, JSS Medical College, Mysuru), Dr Aloknath De (Chair, IEEE Bangalore Section).

At the outset, Dr Prashanth M Vishwanath, Dean Research, JSSAHER highlighted the major strengths of JSSAHER, JSS STU and JSS Hospitals as contributors in the field of education, research and service to humanity.
Dr. Aloknath De, Chair, IEEE Bangalore Section, General Chair of the conference, and Dr Sudarshan Patilkulkarni highlighted the main features of the conference: “IEEE B-HTC 2023 has 7 invited talks by eminent experts from health care or health tech, two panel discussions on the topics: ‘Entrepreneurship Around Technology for Health and Wellness’ and ‘Intersection Space of Medical Science and Health Technology’ by domain experts. In addition, there will be 21 research paper presentations, 9 project demos and 8 poster presentations in this two-day conference”

Inaugurating the conference, Dr M N Ravi discussed wide range of issues that various stakeholders need to address in the field of health care technology, such as minimizing the recurring cost of expensive medical equipment, reforms in insurance sector policies, user friendliness of products etc. He also appreciated the huge contribution of technology in delivering medical services to rural areas.
Dr A N Santosh Kumar, VC, JSS STU, emphasized the need for making the health care technology reliable in diagnosis of diseases and health care services to be made affordable to all sections of society.
In his presidential remarks, Dr Surinder Singh, VC, JSSAHER, urged the participants to convert the knowledge gained during the conference into project proposals.
