Dr. Srinivas Talabattula is Professor in ECE Dept, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. He obtained B.Sc (Hons) in Physics from New Science College, Hyderabad, and ME (integrated) and Ph.D from IISc. He was a Post-Doctoral research fellow at Toyohashi University of Technology, Japan during 1992-1996. His area of research interest is Optical Communications, in particular, Photonic Integrated Circuits. He published about 150 papers and guided 28 Ph D students. He is a member of the National Board of Accreditation, NBA. He was the chairman GATE (IISc zone) during 2010-13. He is an active volunteer of IEEE Bangalore Section and served on students activities, technical activities, professional activities and chapter coordination. He was the  Chair for IEEE Photonics Society and IEEE Communication society chapters of IEEE Bangalore Section. He was involved in IEEE comSoc chapters of India. He initiated formation of  India council chapter of IEEE Photoncis society, now called the Prakash Bharati, the network of Photonics professionals of India. He is involved in formation of about 30 student Branches and 10 society chapters in Bangalore Section. He gave over 100 technical talks at various colleges.
