IEEE Bangalore Section organized the first edition of the Flagship Hackathon “CodXpress” on the theme of Smart Solution with Data Intelligence on 29th and 30th April 2023 across 5 colleges in Karnataka simultaneously in association with Mangalore, Mysore, and North Karnataka subsections. Amrita S E, and RVCE were the 2 hubs at Bangalore. PESITM Shivamogga was the hub for Mangalore Subsection, KLSGIT, Belagavi was the hub for North Karnataka Subsection, and Amrita V V, Mysore was the hub for Mysore Subsection. The main aim was to enhance students’ problem-solving skills in various domains like data intelligence in Robotics, Smart Grid, Health Tech, etc., and engaging in hands-on learning while solving complex challenges related to data intelligence.

CodXpress received more than 100 proposals from various institutes of Karnataka and a few submissions from other states. Around 20 problem statements were provided to the participants. They were also allowed to propose their own problem statements in line with the theme. The core team of CodXpress shortlisted among these and finally a total of 53 teams participated. Eminent and domain experts from academia and industry were assigned as mentors to each of the participating group. The venues were allotted based on the preferences given by each team. Physical mentors were present during 30Hrs event to guide the teams.

The hub-wise details of teams are: Amrita S E-9, RVCE -12, PESITM-11, KLSGIT-12, Amrita V V-9, All the teams were evaluated by 3 juries independently based on innovation/novelty, technologies used, development/execution, application/scope, inputs from virtual/physical mentors etc. and the average of these score was considered to finalize the results as detailed below:

  2.  2nd place: (Id#99) App dev for children vaccine (PESITM, Shimogga)
  3.  3rd place: (Id# 47) Quality for fruits/vegetables (Basaveshwar Engg College, Bagalkot)

  6. (Id#75) Innovative Minds Unnamed Aerial Vehicle (Amrita, Bangalore).

Goodies

The teams who secured 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place were awarded with prize money of INR 50000, 30000, and 20000 respectively and teams with consolation prize received INR 10000 each along with the certificates. The certificate of appreciation was shared with all the juries, mentors, hub leaders, and the volunteers.
