IEEE Bangalore Section was established in 1977 and is one of the most vibrant and dynamic IEEE sections across the globe. Over the years, the strength of the section has grown steadily, and currently, the Section membership stands around 10,000. This membership is spread across various sectors and is a nice blend of Industry, Academia, and Research organizations. Section Conducted 900+ Technical Activities in the year 2018, 1000+ Technical Activities in the year 2019, and 1400+ Technical Activities in the year 2020, with the help of Student branches and society chapters. IEEE Bangalore Section won the prestigious MGA Outstanding Large Section Award (2013 & 2019) and the R10 Distinguished Large Section Award for the year 2013.
Bangalore Section has 3 Subsections (Mangalore, Mysore & North Karnataka), 22 Society Chapters (very few sections across the globe have these many), and 3 affinity groups (Young Professional, Women in Engineering, and Life Member). The Chapters carry out focused activities in their respective areas by conducting technical talks under DLT, seminars, workshops, conferences, etc. Apart from chapter two, affinity groups viz. Young Professionals and Women In Engineering (WIE) also carry out related activities. IEEE Bangalore and IEEE Princeton and Central New Jersey Sections have signed an MoU as sister sections. The section has 100+ active and dynamic student branches. Student Branches have been at the forefront of conducting various activities for the benefit of its student members. Section regularly conducts Branch counselors and chapter chair meetings.
IEEE Mangalore Subsection is the most vibrant subsection and one among the 3 subsections of the IEEE Bangalore Section. Intending to conduct various flagship events, outcome-based programmes and technical activities, the IEEE Mangalore subsection has been catering to the needs of subsection members through its innovative programs like webinar series, workshops and conferences.
IEEE Mangalore Sub-Section was formed on 19th April 2014 with the aim to conduct various student and professional activities like invited talks, student internships, workshops, and conferences. The Engineering colleges from Mangalore, Udupi, Karwar, Shivamogga, Chikmagalur district comes under this Sub-Section. At present, it has more than 1000 IEEE Members in total, including Professional and Student Members.
IEEE North Karnataka Subsection, established in the year 2019, is one among the 3 subsections of IEEE Bangalore Section. The objective of subsection is to conduct various student and professional activities like invited talks on edge Technologies, professional and leadership skill development, student internships, workshops and Flagship conferences. IEEE Student Branches of 9 districts of Northern Karnataka region are covered under this IEEE subsection. Currently, the subsection has more than 1000 IEEE members and 22 IEEE Student Branches including student branch chapters. The subsection aims at enhancing professional networking and promoting humanitarian activities throughout IEEE student branches and its members.
